The Rolex Day Date, also known as the "presidents’ watch," is a legendary and highly prestigious model in Rolex's rich history. Unlike the sport models, the Rolex Day Date screams luxury. Always produced in full white, yellow, or rose gold, it is a perfect daily thanks to its often overlooked day and date functions. The 1803, famous for its stunning step dial, has seen a variety of dial, case and bracelet configurations. This specific piece is fully original and sports the rare but extremely aesthetically pleasing “wide boy” dial, meaning that the indexes and hands are thicker than on the other dials. Adding to the charm of this piece, the latter have gained a charming patina that contrasts well with the flawless silver dial. Thanks to the white gold, the watch is less shiny than the rose or yellow gold versions, making it an under-the-radar timepiece. More than the overall superb condition of the watch, the weight of the full 18-carat gold makes it a pleasure to wear and reminds you throughout the day of the prestigious and historical weight of your timepiece.
A Day Date description would be incomplete without mentioning the defining feature that sets it apart from other watches: the iconic president bracelet. This bracelet is by far one of the most comfortable and beautiful bracelets ever produced in watchmaking history. The fact that a model is named after its bracelet speaks for itself.
The case has a lot of material and sharp angles, which is a good sign that the watch has been really well taken care of. This is even more spectacular when you consider that the watch is over 50 years old and fully made of 18-carat white gold (which is very soft).
The bracelet is the original President bracelet.
The watch is sold alone, without box or papers. We provide a Veritas travelling pouch.
The movement is the original caliber 1556, which runs perfectly well. This caliber is the upgraded version of the 1555, which stops the seconds hand when pulling the crown out for more accurate time setting.
Our watches are available for in-person viewing in Lausanne by appointment only.
