about the watch
In the vast world of horology, there is no debate about one thing: the most famous, sought-after, and timeless dive watch is the Rolex Submariner. The Submariner is a true icon in Rolex's history, and the reference 5513 is probably the best representative of the vintage Submariners'. This is due in part thanks to the clean looking dial that features only 2 lines at 6 o'clock, unlike the later references and its sister references the 5512 and 1680. With its sleek black dial and painted tritium hour markers, this timepiece exudes a vintage charm that is unmatched.
During the entire production run of the reference 5513 matte dial, which lasted for about 27 years, the "serif" dials are typical of the early 70's, retaining the vintage typo. This amplifies their vintage look which is somewhat diminished on the maxi dials. The watch features a perfect dial that has developed a beautiful patina over time. The tritium aged to an amazing eggsheel color and the hands match perfectly with the dial. The watch is entirely original, from the 702 crown to the domed plexi.
The 5513 is one of the best watches to start with in the world of Rolex's four-digit references as well as vintage tool watches. It is aesthetically appealing, timeless, and easy to wear thanks to its sleek design and durability.
The watch is in good condition. The case and bracelet have retained a lot of material. The bezel is superb and shows no scratches.
The original Oyster bracelet is in great condition too. It is the ref. 9315, with 380 end links. The buckle is also the original one.
The watch is sold alone, without box or papers. We provide a Veritas travelling pouch.
The movement is a caliber 1520, which runs perfectly well.
