about the watch

The Rolex Daytona is widely recognized as one of the most iconic chronographs ever produced, with a rich history and a stunning design that is arguably one of the most beautiful chronograph designs of all time. Reference 16520 is commonly referred to as the "Zenith Daytona," as it is powered by a Zenith El Primero movement that has been modified by Rolex.

This particular piece was sold in Hong Kong in March 1999 and has remained in fantastic condition ever since. The case and bracelet are thick with strong edges. The dial is immaculate, and its beigeish sub-counters give it a vintage look that is highly sought after by collectors. The specificity of this particular model is that it sports a mk6 tritinova dial. It is one of the last batches of "T Swiss Made T" dials that were mounted on 16520s, but despite this marking, they were already lumed with luminova before the transition to the "Swiss Made" dial. These can thus only be found on the late U/early A-serials. As we know, Rolex had a "no-waste" policy, meaning they would use all parts they had in stock before using newly manufactured ones, and this has given us these kind of unusual transitional watches. In addition to making this watch much rarer, it brings some modern technology that perfectly blends with the 16520's vintage aesthetics.

If you are looking to expand your collection and acquire key pieces of horology's history, the Rolex Daytona is a perfect addition. Cherry on the cake, the watch is sold with its original box and papers.

The case has a lot of material and sharp edges. The buckle and bracelet are in excellent condition too. The bracelet is the original one, reference 78360. It has no stretch.

The watch comes with its original box, outer box, guarantee papers, red and green tag as well as the bezel protector.

The movement is the original caliber 4030, which runs perfectly well.
