about the watch
In the vast world of horology, there is no debate about one thing: the most famous, sought-after, and timeless dive watch is the Rolex Submariner. The stainless steel Submariner is a true icon in Rolex's history, and the reference 5513 is probably the best representative of the vintage Submariners'. This is due in part thanks to the clean looking dial that features only 2 lines at 6 o'clock, unlike the later references and its sister references the 5512 and 1680. With its sleek black dial and painted tritium hour markers, this timepiece exudes a vintage charm that is unmatched.
During the entire production run of the reference 5513 matte dial, which lasted for about 27 years, the maxi dials are the most sought-after versions. This specific 5513 is a Mk1, which is arguably one of the rarest kind of the maxi dials. It was only produced for roughly one and a half year (within the serials 5.5 to 6 million). What makes it even rarer is the remarkable overall condition in which this watch has been preserved. It features a perfect dial that has developed an exceptional eggshell patina over time. The bezel, case, and bracelet are also in superb condition. The bracelet shows almost no stretch, further demonstrating the care this watch has received. The watch is entirely original, and still bears the characteristic "dome" plexiglass, which accentuates the vintage look of this watch.
The 5513 is one of the best watches to start with in the world of Rolex's four-digit references as well as vintage tool watches. It is aesthetically appealing, timeless, and easy to wear.
The watch is in amazing condition. The case and bracelet have sharp angles and a lot of material, proving how well it was taken care of. The bezel is superb.
The Oyster bracelet is in great condition and has almost no stretch. It is the original reference 93150, with 580 end links.
The watch is sold alone, without box or papers. We provide a Veritas travelling pouch.
The movement is a caliber 1520, which runs perfectly well. It was serviced in January 2024.
