about the watch
In the vast world of watchmaking, one thing is beyond doubt: the most famous, most sought-after and most iconic diving watch is the Rolex Submariner. The steel Submariner Date is a true icon in the history of Rolex, and this vintage iteration is no exception. With its elegant matte black dial and tritium applied hour markers, this timepiece is a pioneer in Rolex's history, being the first Submariner to feature a date. It offers a perfect blend of vintage design and feel paired with a strong history. This makes it one of Rolex's most sought-after 4-digit references.
This special piece is a mk1 version. With its steel case and bracelet, and matt black dial with applied hour markers, it embodies all the iconic features of the vintage Submariner. The dial is immaculate, and its applied tritium hour-markers have acquired a splendid beige patina. The hands are also original and, like the hour-markers, have not been relumed. The bezel is still in superb condition, as is the rest of the watch. For a timepiece dating back to around 1977, it is in superb condition. The case and bracelet still have plenty of material and sharp edges, demonstrating the great care that has gone into this watch over the years.
