Oysterquartz Datejust, ref. 17013, circa 1980

The Rolex Oysterquartz has long been unfairly judged because of its quartz movement. Fortunately, in recent years, the Oysterquartz has finally gained the recognition it deserves, both as a collector's item and because of its original design. This particular piece, an Oysterquartz Datejust, dates from around 1980. It has a case and bracelet made of 18-carat yellow gold and steel, which gives it a special appearance.

about the watch

In the history of Rolex, rare are the entire model lines that have been produced for more than 10 years in less than 25,000 pieces, all references and configurations combined. With its yellow gold and steel case and bracelet, the 17013 stands out with its characteristic 70's design as well as its integrated bracelet which reminds the Royal Oak by Genta. This reference brings a wind of freshness and originality to the Rolex range of models, and is strongly reminiscent of a "Miami vice" style.
A worthy representative of Rolex quartz production, this particular piece is in fantastic condition. The gold of the bracelet and case have oxidised slightly, proof that the piece has been extremely well preserved. If this is not enough, it appears that the case and bracelet are unpolished, only the buckle has gotten a slight refresh. The champagne dial is immaculate, and the tritium has gained an even and charming patina, making this piece something unique on the wrist. Whether it's the charisma it exudes or the rarity of the Oysterquartz, this watch is a real hidden gem and no doubt a future collector's item.

The case and bracelet appear unpolished. There is a lot of material left on the bracelet and case, and the edges are sharp. The yellow gold has oxidised slightly, showing how little the piece was worn and how much care was taken by its last owner. Only the buckle has been slightly refreshed, which is not a problem considering how well it was done.

The watch is sold alone, without box or papers. We provide a Veritas travelling pouch.

The mouvement is the original quartz movement, caliber 5035, and is in excellent working condition.
