about the watch
Initially designed for caving, the Rolex Explorer II has developed over the years into one of the brand's most unusual and special watches.
Although still too under-appreciated, the Explorer II is both an aesthetic and historical bombshell. As is often the case with Rolex's neo-vintage watches, reference 16570 perfectly blends vintage aesthetics with modern strength and technology. Whether for its resistant bracelet or its GMT function, the Explorer 2 is an extremely interesting timepiece from both a utility and "quality-price" point of view.
This particular piece is in concours condition. The fantastic patina contrasts perfectly with the immaculate black dial. The steel case and bezel enhance the piece, giving the Explorer 2 a purely professional look. The red GMT hand adds vivacity to this relatively discrete timepiece. If it weren't for the splendid tritium dial, you'd forget that this watch was sold in 1998, such is its impeccable cosmetic condition.
The dial, case and bracelet have all been well preserved, with plenty of material and sharp, sharp edges.
The icing on the cake is that the watch comes with its original set, which includes the box, the original warranty and a few accessories. This sublime Explorer 2 will become for its purchaser one of the most pleasant watches to wear on a daily basis.
The watch has been extremely well preserved, retaining sharp edges and a case that has plenty of material. The buckle and bracelet are also in excellent condition.
The bracelet is the original one, reference 78790, and has no stretch.
The watch is accompanied by the box, outterbox, warranty, Explorer booklet, calendar, two tags (red and green) and the original green leather wallet.
The movement is the original caliber 3185, which runs perfectly well.
