about the watch
The Rolex Daytona is widely recognized as one of the most iconic chronographs ever produced, with a rich history and a stunning design that is arguably one of the most beautiful chronograph designs of all time. Reference 16520 is commonly referred to as the "Zenith Daytona," as it is powered by a Zenith El Primero movement that has been modified by Rolex.
This particular piece was sold in Calgary, Canada, in 1999 and has remained in fantastic condition ever since. The case and bracelet are thick with strong edges, giving the impression that it was sold yesterday. The white dial with black subdials, also called "Panda", is probably the most famous and sought-after version of the Daytona, thanks to its very readable and aesthetic style. The dial is truly immaculate, which remains the most important part of any watch and probably even more so on the Daytona. This particular model is one of the last batches of tritium dials, sporting the "T Swiss Made T" writing at 6 o'clock. As is often the case with neo-vintage Rolexes, the 16520 is the perfect compromise between modern technology and the aesthetic charm of vintage watches.
If you are looking to expand your collection and acquire key pieces of horology's history, the Rolex Daytona is a perfect addition. Finding examples in such excellent condition is becoming increasingly rare, making this watch all the more valuable and special.
The case has a lot of material and sharp edges. The buckle and bracelet are in excellent condition too. The bracelet is the original one, reference 78360. It has no stretch.
The watch comes with its original box, guarantee papers, calendar, Oyster booklet, traduction booklet and green leather pouch. This is almost a full set, but it is nonetheless a quite complete set, increasing even more its collection value.
The movement is the original caliber 4030, which runs perfectly well.
