about the watch
The Rolex Day Date, also known as the "Rolex President", is a legendary and highly prestigious model in Rolex's rich history. Unlike the so-called "sports" models, the Rolex Day Date is a pure luxury product. Always produced in white, yellow or pink gold, it is perfectly suited to everyday use, thanks in particular to its day and date functions, which are all too often neglected.
The 18239, saw the introduction of the quickset for the day in addition to the date, bringing a practical advantage without compromising the watch's vintage aesthetic. With its rather heavy and warm presence on the wrist, this watch is much more than just a gold watch. It represents an entire body of watchmaking expertise, and in particular the excellent use of precious materials for which Rolex, among others, is renowned.
A description of the Day Date would be incomplete without mentioning the feature that sets it apart from the rest: the emblematic President bracelet. The fact that a model is named after its bracelet speaks for itself.
As is often the case with neo-vintage Rolexes, the 18239 is the perfect compromise between modern technology and the aesthetic charm of vintage watches.
This specific piece is entirely original, with its immaculate dial having developed a charming patina. Indeed, the latter changes from shiny silver to salmon/champagne depending on the light. This gives the watch a lot of charm and liveliness. The president bracelet and case are in fantastic condition, and the caseback can attest to it as you can still see the original Rolex green sticker. The icing on the cake is that the watch comes with its original set, which attests that the watch was sold in 1994 in Sydney, Australia.
More than the superb overall condition of the watch, the weight of the 18-carat gold makes it a pleasure to wear, adding warmth and boldness to any outfit.
The case has a lot of material and sharp edges. The buckle and bracelet are in excellent condition too.
The bracelet is the original one and has no stretch.
The watch is sold with its original set. It includes the box, the overbox, the original warranty attesting to the sale in 1994, the warranty translation, the leather card holder and the Oyster booklet. All this can be seen in the last photo.
The movement is the original caliber 3155, which runs perfectly well.
