about the watch

The Rolex Day Date, also known as the "Rolex President", is a legendary and highly prestigious model in Rolex's rich history. Unlike the so-called "sports" models, the Rolex Day Date is a pure luxury product. Always produced in white, yellow or rose gold, it is perfectly suited to everyday use, thanks in particular to its day and date functions, which are all too often neglected. The 18238 saw the introduction of the quickset for the day in addition to the date, providing a practical advantage without compromising the watch's vintage aesthetic.
A description of the Day Date would be incomplete without mentioning the feature that sets it apart from the rest: the iconic President bracelet. The fact that a model is named after its bracelet speaks for itself.
This particular timepiece is entirely original, with no service parts, including the watch's rare fossil dial. The latter is immaculate and fascinating, thanks in particular to the irregular but aesthetically pleasing pattern of fossil on the dial. Moreover, this is one of only 150 estimated pieces to ever wear the fossil dial. Indeed, being only allowed to manufacture dials out of one fossil stone, this is as many dials as they could make. In addition to its high collector's value, it is an amazing watch to wear knowing that this dial encapsulates what used to be living species some hundred million years ago.
What's more, this piece has been preserved in super cosmetic condition. Both the bracelet and case are in excellent condition. The watch was serviced in January 2023 at Rolex and is under warranty until 2025, in addition to our one-year warranty. Icing on the cake, the watch comes with its original box and papers, attesting to its sale in 1991 in Sweden.

The case has a lot of material and sharp edges. The buckle and bracelet are in excellent condition too. The caseback sticker is still well visible.

The bracelet is the original president bracelet, reference 8385, and has no stretch.

The watch is sold with its original box and papers, the Rolex service warranty card as well as an extra invoice from the previous owner.

The movement is the original caliber 3155, which works perfectly well. The watch was overhauled in January 2023 by Rolex, and is guaranteed until 2025.
