about the watch
The Rolex Day Date, also known as the "presidents’ watch," is a legendary and highly prestigious model in Rolex's rich history. Unlike the sport models, the Rolex Day Date screams luxury. Always produced in full white, yellow, or rose gold, it is a perfect daily thanks to its often overlooked day and date functions. The 18238 saw the introduction of the double quickset, for the date and day, which provides a practical benefit without compromising the watch's vintage aesthetic. With its heavy and warm presence on the wrist, wearing this watch is a statement in itself. A Day Date description would be incomplete without mentioning the defining feature that sets it apart from other watches: the iconic president bracelet. The fact that a model is named after its bracelet speaks for itself. As is often the case with neo-vintage Rolexes, the 18238 is the perfect compromise of modern technology with the aesthetic charm of vintage watches.
This specific piece is fully original, with its champagne dial that remains probably the most classic and timeless configuration. The president bracelet, case, and dial are all in fantastic condition. Some oxydation can be seen on the bracelet, proof of how well it was preserved. The watch is delivered with its original papers. More than the overall superb condition of the watch, the weight of the full 18-carat gold makes it a pleasure to wear, adding warmth and boldness to any outfit.
The case has a lot of material and sharp edges. The buckle and bracelet are in excellent condition too.
The bracelet is the original President bracelet reference 8385, and it has no stretch.
The watch comes with its original papers, attesting to the sale in 1993 in Paris.
The movement is the original caliber 3155, which runs perfectly well.
