about the watch
The Rolex Day Date, also known as the "Rolex President", is a legendary and highly prestigious model in Rolex's rich history. Unlike the so-called "sports" models, the Rolex Day Date is a pure luxury product. Always produced in white, yellow or pink gold, it is perfectly suited to everyday use, thanks in particular to its day and date functions, which are all too often neglected. The 18238, saw the introduction of the quickset for the day in addition to the date, bringing a practical advantage without compromising the watch's vintage aesthetic. With its heavy, warm presence on the wrist, this watch is more than an apparent block of yellow gold.
A description of the Day Date would be incomplete without mentioning the feature that sets it apart from the rest: the iconic President bracelet. The fact that a model is named after its bracelet speaks for itself. As is often the case with neo-vintage Rolexes, the 18238 is the perfect compromise between modern technology and the aesthetic charm of vintage watches.
This particular piece is entirely original, with its immaculate dial and tritium that has developed a charming patina. What sets this watch apart from other 18238s is its bracelet and case, which have never been polished. Indeed, the latter are in impeccable condition, and have even acquired a charming patina due to the oxidation of the gold, giving the watch a unique appearance. Proof of the watch's good preservation over the years is the sticker on the caseback, which is still clearly visible. It has the particularity of being the sticker reserved for the Japanese market, much rarer than the green sticker.
In addition to the watch's superb overall condition, the weight of the 18-carat gold makes it a pleasure to wear, adding warmth and boldness to any outfit.
The case and bracelet have never been polished, which means it is in excellent condition. A beautiful patina due to the oxidation is still visible on the bracelet and case. The caseback sticker is still visible, proof of how well the watch was preserved.
The bracelet is the original President bracelet, reference 8385. It has no stretch.
The watch is sold alone, without box or papers. We provide a Veritas travelling pouch.
The movement is the original caliber 3155, which runs perfectly well.
