about the watch
The Rolex Day Date, also known as the "presidents’ watch," is a legendary and highly prestigious model in Rolex's rich history. Unlike the sport models, the Rolex Day Date screams luxury. Always produced in full white, yellow, or rose gold, it is a perfect daily thanks to its often overlooked day and date functions. The 18038, the first 5-digit reference, saw the introduction of the single quickset for the date, which provides a practical benefit without compromising the watch's vintage aesthetic. With its heavy and warm presence on the wrist, wearing this watch is a statement in itself. A Day Date description would be incomplete without mentioning the defining feature that sets it apart from other watches: the iconic president bracelet. The fact that a model is named after its bracelet speaks for itself.
This specific piece is entirely original, with its so-called "Oxblood Stella" dial, the burgundy version of Stella dials. It is in excellente condition and has developed a charming patina. As if that weren't exceptional enough, the president's bracelet and case have never been polished, and the original sticker on the caseback is still visible. As the piece has been worn very little, it shows traces of oxidation, adding even more collector's value to this extraordinary timepiece.
The case and bracelet have never been polished. This is even more spectacular when you consider that the watch is more than 40 years old and fully made of 18-carat yellow gold.
The bracelet is the original president bracelet, reference 8385.
The watch is sold alone, without a box or papers. We provide a Veritas travelling pouch.
The movement is the original caliber 3055, which runs perfectly well.
