about the watch

In Rolex's long and rich history, few models can lay claim to such renown as the Datejust. Born in 1945, the model has seen many variations and combinations of cases, bracelets and dials. This particular piece, with its onyx stone dial, fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet, remains probably one of the rarest and most sought-after Datejust configurations.

The dial adds depth and charm beyond compare. As well as having great collector's value, this piece is aesthetically unrivalled, thanks to the contrast between the yellow gold and the onyx dial, and the cosmetic condition in which it has been preserved. Indeed, both the case and bracelet are in superb condition, especially for an 18k yellow gold watch that is 35 years old. The most important thing about these pieces is the dial. It is immaculate, besides a barely perceptible chip around 7 o'clock, only visible under certain lights but certainly not easily noticeable with the naked eye. And, most importantly, it's original, with its "Swiss" marking that corresponds to this period. The hands and bracelet are also original. This piece is one of those exceptional watches where elaboration is not necessary; the photos speak for themselves.

The case has a lot of material and sharp edges. Certainly the watch has been repolished, but it was well-done, conserving much of the case’s material. This is all the more spectacular considering that the watch is 35 years old and in 18k yellow gold.

The buckle and bracelet are in excellent condition too. The bracelet is the original one.

The watch is sold alone, without box or papers. We provide a Veritas travelling pouch.

The movement is the original caliber 3135, which runs well.
