In Rolex's long and rich history, few models can lay claim to such renown as the Datejust. Born in 1945, the model has seen many variations and combinations of cases, bracelets and dials. Reference 16234 is the first Datejust to have had sapphire instead of plexiglass, offering a little more resistance and a slightly more modern look than previous references. This particular watch features a rather rare ‘tapestry’ dial, so named because of the vertical stripes that lend it depth and create a fascinating play of light. The steel bezel is original and very attractive, giving the watch a slightly sportier look than if it were fitted with the famous fluted white gold bezel. The Jubilee bracelet is in perfect condition and is made of steel, just like the case and bezel.
