about the watch
In Rolex's long and rich history, few models can lay claim to such renown as the Datejust. Born in 1945, the model has seen many variations and combinations of cases, bracelets and dials.
Reference 16234 is the first Datejust to have had sapphire instead of plexiglass, offering a little more resistance and a slightly more modern look than previous references. As is often the case with these neo-vintage Rolexes, the watch is a good mix, offering the strength and precision of a modern watch while retaining the aesthetics and wearability of the vintages.
This specific piece, with its black dial, white gold fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet, probably remains one of the most sought-after and versatile timepieces of all time. The mesmerizing glossy black dial varies from a deep black to a dark anthracite or even brownish colour depending on the light, giving it a lively and dynamic appearance on the wrist. The indexes and hands are in luminova, which offers better readability in the dark.
The overall condition of the watch is excellent, with plenty of material left on the case and sharp corners. It is the perfect starting point for a collection and a must-have for any serious watch enthusiast. Cherry on the cake, the watch is sold with its original full set.
The case has a lot of material and sharp edges. Proof that the watch was extremely well preserved, the green caseback sticker is still well visible.
The bracelet is the original Jubilee, reference 62510H. It has barely any stretch.
The watch is sold with its original box and outter box, guarantee papers, the Oyster and Datejust booklets, the green and red tag as well as the guarantee translation. It is a true "full set".
The movement is the original caliber 3135, which runs well.
