about the watch
In Rolex's long and rich history, few models can claim to be as important as the Datejust. Born in 1945, the model has seen numerous variations and combinations of cases, bracelets and dials.
The reference 16233 saw the introduction of sapphire crystal, improving robustness compared to older references. The watch also features a quickset date setting. It has been very well preserved over the years, the case and bracelet being in impeccable condition and even showing a bit of gold oxidation, proof of how little it was worn and how well it was taken care of. The champagne dial, which blends perfectly into the continuity of the bracelet and case, is impeccable. The tritium of the hands and indexes has gained a lovely beige patina, adding to the vintage charm of the watch. Although classic, the dial varies in colour according to the light, lending it a great deal of charm. The watch was initially sold in Japan, in 1996, and is delivered with its original box and papers as well as some booklets.
Whether to start a collection or to add to one already well underway, the 16233 is the perfect reference for everyday wear. With two-tone watches coming back into fashion, the 16233 is certainly one of the pieces that will be more and more desired by watch enthusiasts.
The case is in very good condition, even showing some light oxidation on the gold.
The buckle and bracelet are also in excellent condition. The Jubilee bracelet is the original one, reference 62523H.
The watch is sold with its original set which includes the box, papers and some booklets.
The movement is the original caliber 3135, which runs perfectly well.
