about the watch
In Rolex's rich and long history, few models can claim such renown as the Datejust. Introduced in 1945, the model has seen numerous variations and combinations of cases, bracelets and dials. This particular piece, with its grey dial and Jubilee bracelet, remains one of the least known but most aesthetically pleasing Datejusts of all time.
The bezel of the 1603 is made of steel, known as a engine-turned bezel, rather than white gold like the references with a fluted bezel. This configuration adds a little something extra to this classic, thanks in part to the beautiful design of the bezel, and is testament to its owner's effort to find that rare gem among the vast selection of Datejusts.
This particular piece features a pristine grey dial, which has acquired a beautiful, even patina that adds to the watch's vintage charm. The case and bracelet have been very well maintained over time and are in superb condition. This piece is a true time capsule and a watch that demonstrates the class and originality of its wearer.
The case has a lot of material and sharp edges. It is in great overall condition.
The buckle and bracelet are in excellent condition too. The Jubilee bracelet is the original one, reference 6251H, and has no stretch.
The watch is sold alone, without box or papers. We provide a Veritas travelling pouch.
The movement is the original caliber 1570, which runs perfectly well.
