about the watch
In the rich and long history of Rolex, not many model lines can pride themselves in being as significant as the Datejust. Born in 1945, the Datejust has seen many variations of cases, bracelets, and dials combinations, but this specific piece, the black dial, white gold fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet, probably remains one of the most sought-after and easy-wearing timepieces of all time. This mesmerizing black matt dial is also a “sigma dial”, meaning you can read two sigma symbols next to the “T Swiss T” writing at 6 o’clock. It is immaculate, and the tritium has gained an even and charming patina. This brings a little extra rarity to this all-time classic, demarking it from the more regular dials. On top of that, the overall condition of the watch is great, with still a lot of material on the case and sharp angles. It is the perfect start to a collection and a must-have for any serious watch enthusiast.
The case has a lot of material and sharp edges. Certainly the watch has been repolished, but it was well-done, conserving much of the case’s material. This is all the more spectacular considering that the watch is over 60 years old.
The buckle and bracelet are in excellent condition too. The bracelet is the original one, reference 6251H. It has little stretch.
The watch is sold alone, without box or papers. We provide a Veritas travelling pouch.
The movement is the original caliber 1570, which runs well. The watch is still waterproof, although we highly recommend not to try and meet fishes with it...
