about the watch
The Patek Philippe Calatrava is widely regarded as the definitive dress watch, a form perfected over nearly a century and copied by virtually every watchmaker that followed. Reference 3445 holds a special place even within that legacy: launched in 1961, it was Patek Philippe’s first serially produced automatic watch with a date complication, powered by the celebrated caliber 27-460 featuring the famous Gyromax balance and an engraved 18k gold winding rotor.
This particular example is a piece from the early production runs. Crafted in white gold — ref. 3445G, where the ‘G’ stands for white gold — it is identifiable by the logo on the dial and the seconds counter at 6 o’clock, making it one of the most sought-after variants of the model. The 35mm white gold case retains its crisp proportions and characteristic screw-down caseback, a refined engineering touch uncommon for dress watches of the era. Mounted on a black leather strap, it strikes an effortlessly elegant contrast that suits the watch perfectly. The dial is in excellent condition, displaying the warm, lustrous tone that only decades of careful ownership can produce. The watch is fully original throughout.
For the collector seeking a cornerstone piece of mid-century haute horlogerie, the ref. 3445 is difficult to surpass. With approximately 7,000 examples produced across two decades, finding one in honest condition grows rarer with every passing year — and more meaningful with every one after that.
The case and bracelet are in very good condition. It is safe to say that its previous owner wore it with care. The buckle is the original Patek buckle.
The watch is sold without box nor papers. We provide a Veritas travelling pouch.
The movement is the original automatic caliber 27-460, which runs perfectly well. It was serviced in May 2026 by our watchmaker.
