about the watch

The Patek Philippe Ellipse was created in 1968, and has been considered an icon of Patek Philippe and in the industry ever since. Drawing inspiration from the Golden Ratio, the divine ratio of 1 to 1.6181 prevalent in art, architecture, and nature, the Ellipse embodies this founding design principle. Among the different Ellipse references, the 3738 has been in production the longest, from 1978 to around 2009, enjoying various dial and bracelet options over its four-decade production span.
With four distinct production series, each marked by unique movement and dial designs, the Ellipse has consistently been the preferred choice for collectors and watch enthusiasts seeking a flawlessly crafted dress watch.
This particular exemplar showcases a distinctive blue dial encapsulated within the characteristic oval-shaped Ellipse case. The watch boasts an exquisite and relatively uncommon integrated "chain" bracelet, retaining the timeless elegance of the Ellipse while introducing a dash of boldness for the wearer. For Ellipse collectors, this timepiece presents an opportunity to acquire a rare variant of the reference 3738J. Cherry on the cake, it is sold with its original box and papers, stating the watch was sold in 1994 in Zurich.

The case and bracelet are in very good condition. It is safe to say that its previous owner wore it with care.

The watch is sold with its original box and papers, attesting of the sale of the watch in 1994 in Zürich.

The movement is the original automatic caliber 240, which runs well.
