about the watch
Designed to show the time in two different time zones simultaneously during intercontinental flights, the Rolex GMT Master 16710 is a legendary pilot’s watch known for its timeless design and historical significance. With its stainless steel case and bracelet, and contrasting black dial, this piece embodies all the iconic features of the GMT Master with an aesthetic twist: the bezel sports the red and black “Coke” insert.
The late 90’s/early 2000’s 16710 also boasts technical improvements such as the improved folding clasp, blending in the bracelet’s design, and the first luminova dial and hands. As we like to say, neo-vintage timepieces are often the best of both worlds.
This specific piece is fully original and in excellent condition. Moreover, the watch comes with its full original set. Cool feature here, the watch sports a “Swiss Only” dial, named so because the dial reads only “Swiss” at 6 o’clock. This rarer transitional version has been produced on the U and A-serials of Rolex’s sports models (from the second half of 1998 to 2000). It is a great addition and fantastic starter to any collection of watches. Wearing it daily reveals why it is such an iconic model.
The case has a lot of material and sharp edges. The buckle and bracelet are in excellent condition too. The green caseback sticker is still well visible, attesting of how well the watch was taken care of. The bracelet is the original one, reference 78790. It has no stretch.
The watch comes with its original box, guarantee papers, both booklets, both tags, the green wallet as well as the original instruction manual in japanese. This is a true full set and the perfect collector’s piece.
The movement is the original caliber 3185, which runs perfectly well. The watch is still waterproof, although we do not recommend trying to meet fishes with it...
