about the watch
In Rolex's long and rich history, few models can claim to be as important as the Datejust. Born in 1945, the model has seen numerous variations and combinations of cases, bracelets and dials. The reference 16233 saw the introduction of sapphire crystal, improving robustness compared to older references. The watch also features a quickset date setting.
This example has been amazingly well preserved over the years, the case and bracelet are unpolished and show a lovely gold oxidation. The champagne dial, which blends perfectly into the continuity of the bracelet and case, is impeccable. The tritium of the hands and indexes has remained relatively clear but tending to a beige tint, contrasting nicely with the dial. The caseback factory sticker is still present as well.
Whether to start a collection or to add to one already well underway, the 16233 is the perfect reference for everyday wear. With two-tone watches coming back into fashion, the 16233 is certainly one of the pieces that will be more and more desired by watch enthusiasts.
The case is in outstanding condition. It is unpolished as well as the bezel.
The buckle and bracelet are also in excellent condition. The Jubilee bracelet is the original one, reference 62523H.
The watch is sold alone without original papers nor box. We provide a Veritas travelling pouch as well.
The movement is the original caliber 3135, it has been serviced by our watchmakers.
