about the watch

Among the many Cartier Tank models, the Tank Basculante stands out as one of the most fun and intriguing. Introduced in 1932, just a year after the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso, the Basculante features a unique "cabriolet" system that allows the dial to flip and reveal the caseback. This system was designed by Spécialités Horlogères, the same company that created the Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso and was soon after absorbed by the latter.

The Tank Basculante reference 2390, which was Cartier's first all-steel Tank, was produced from the late '90s until around 2006. It maintained the same dimensions and was powered by the same MC 060 caliber as the gold editions. Cartier also introduced a quartz version during this period. The Tank Basculante has seen many versions that are more or less rare and spectacular, but the classic reference 2390 remains most probably a collectors' favourite.

This specific piece has been kept in fantastic condition. Very few scratches can be seen on the case, which is impressive for a watch that is over 20 years old. The dial is in perfect condition, which is the most important part of many watches, but specifically on the Basculante as it showcases this beautiful guilloché pattern. The bracelet is new as well. The watch is sold with its original box and guarantee papers.
