about the watch

The Navitimer is arguably Breitling's most iconic reference, and the definitive pilot's chronograph of its era. Powered by the Venus 178 calibre, the reference 806 represents the classic Navitimer in its purest form: 41mm, domed plexiglass crystal, and the signature slide rule bezel that made it the instrument of choice for aviators worldwide.

This particular example stands apart on two counts. First, its case material: 18K yellow gold Navitimers from this period are genuinely rare, the vast majority having been produced in stainless steel. Second, its dial configuration: the so-called reverse panda layout, black dial with white subdials, is among the most sought-after variants by collectors. The watch retains its original tritium lume, consistent with its age.

The caseback bears a personal engraving, "10 Jahre Treue Mitarbeit PP", a corporate presentation piece marking ten years of loyal service, adding a tangible piece of human history to the watch. The watch is in good condition overall, worn as expected for a piece of this age, and is offered on a leather strap with a gold folding clasp. It is accompanied by a Breitling Extract from the Archives confirming its November 1968 production date.

The watch is in very good overall condition. The case and buckle presents some light surface scratches consistent with normal wear, nothing deep or detracting.

The watch is sold with an extract of archives.

The movement is the original caliber Venus 178, which runs well.
