about the watch

Introduced in 1954, the Breitling Navitimer was developed as a purpose-built pilot's chronograph, equipped with a circular slide rule bezel for in-flight calculations. With its distinctive layered dial and beaded bezel, it rapidly became one of the most iconic aviation watches ever produced, a status it has never relinquished.

This example, reference 806, is dated January 1959 by its Breitling Extract from the Archives, placing it among the earliest production of this celebrated reference. It is powered by the Venus 178 calibre and features the full black dial variant, known among collectors as the "All Black Wings", with the AOPA wings logo in gold at 12 o'clock, gold Arabic numerals, and matching black subdials that give the watch its dramatic, unified aesthetic. The radium lume has developed a rich warm patina consistent with its age. The domed plexiglass crystal adds to the authentically vintage presence of the piece.

The watch is in good condition overall for its age, and is presented on a black leather strap. It is accompanied by a Breitling Extract from the Archives confirming its 1959 production date, an important document for a watch of this age and rarity.

The watch is in good overall condition. The case and buckle presents some scratches consistent with normal wear.

The watch is delivered with an extract of archives.

The movement is the original caliber Venus 178, which runs well.
