about the watch
In the late 1990s, Audemars Piguet released many interesting watches. The one model brand clearly wanted to show that they were still part of the "holy trinity". Models like the Starwheel were introduced, sharing the famous Jules Audemars 36mm case found on earlier perpetual calendars. The watch we are proposing here shares this lineage but adds a little touch of classiness with its beautiful 3 layers Clou de Paris bezel. Giving it a bit of a Patek Philippe 3119 vibe.
Only fifty examples of this exact configuration exist. The thin 36mm case is crafted from rose gold and it houses the famous automatic 2121 caliber, the thinnest central rotor date movement at the time, which equipped the legendary 5402 Royal Oak.
The dial is a sublte floral guilloché with roman numerals that goes from white to cream depending on the light. This motif pairs beautifully with the thin Clou de Paris decoration found on the bezel. A very small and light discoloration can be seen between 12 and 1 on the dial, very small and not very visible most of the time to the naked eye. Being only one of fifty example ever made, this is not the watch you'll come across again anytime soon. It is for sure a special piece for anyone looking for a dress watch that is both special but simple and classy.
The case is unpolished, the strap is Audemars Piguet signed and the pin buckle is the original rose gold one.
The watch is sold with its original certificate of authenticity.
The movement is the caliber 2121, which has been serviced by our watchmakers.
