about the watch

In the early 1990’s, Audemars Piguet's inventive watchmakers introduced for the first time the ancient wandering hours complication in a wristwatch, originating in the 1600s with the Campani brothers crafting a clock for the Pope.
The Star Wheel watches utilize three floating sapphire disks displaying hours on a central rotating wheel with exquisite hand-finished details. As the structure turns, the actual hour becomes clearly visible and moves across the white 0 to 60 minute sector at the dial's top, while the other disks remain obscured against the background until their time arrives.
The ref. 25720 boasts an 18K rose gold case with a stepped bezel and short downturned lugs, featuring classic dimensions of 36 mm in diameter and 9 mm in thickness. This rare version showcases a romantic hand-engraved floral pattern on the 18K rose gold dial.
Powered by Audemars Piguet’s automatic caliber 2224 movement, itself derived from Jaeger LeCoultre’s caliber 889, the watch's sapphire display case back reveals the exquisite Côtes de Genève finishing and a rotor partially made of 21K gold.
This specific piece dates back to circa 1992, and is sold with the extract from Audemars Piguet’s archives. Presented on a brown leather strap, it sports the 18K rose gold AP-signed clasp. The watch is in stunning condition, as seen in the pictures.

The watch is in very good condition, and does not have any deep scratches. The bracelet is new.

The watch is sold with its extract of the AP archives, but without box or papers. We provide a Veritas travelling pouch.

The movement is the original 2224, which runs perfectly well.
