Laurent Ferrier founded his brand in Geneva in 2009, after nearly four decades at Patek Philippe. Son and grandson of watchmakers, he spent his career mastering haute horlogerie before stepping out at 63 to make watches entirely on his own terms. The Classic Moon is the most recent expression of that project. Introduced at Watches & Wonders in 2024, it went on to win the Calendar and Astronomy Watch Prize at the GPHG that same year.
The Classic Moon brings together an annual calendar and the brand's first-ever moonphase complication. The layout is instantly legible: a central Assegai-shaped hand, a classic design feature of Laurent Ferrier's watches, sweeps the date around a perimeter track in vintage-inspired numerals, while day and month read through two windows at 12 o’clock. At 6 o’clock, an aventurine crystal and translucent enamel moonphase disc, displaying both Northern and Southern hemispheres, sits intertwined with a subsidiary seconds hand. This specific example carries the silver dial with. The 18k red gold case measures 40mm and is entirely polished in Laurent Ferrier’s characteristically restrained manner. The movement, caliber LF 126.02, is hand-wound, delivers 80 hours of power reserve, and is finished to a standard that is rarely found in the watch world.
Sold in 2025 in Geneva, the watch comes directly from its first and only owner, who wore it with great care. It is accompanied by its full original set as well as an extra 18k red gold folding clasp. The case and bracelet are in excellent condition with only the lightest signs of use.
