About the watch

In 1989, Tudor unveiled the 79000 series of Submariners, which included the ref. 79090 and 79190. The Ref. 79090, reminiscent of the original 7900 series, offered both blue and black dial options with matching bezels. Notable changes included triangular hour markers at 6 and 9 o’clock. Its 39mm case housed an ETA 2824-2 movement, while the Oyster-type steel bracelet featured folding links and a folding clasp adorned with the Tudor logo. It was an option back then to choose either the diving bracelet 9315 or the 7836. The 79090 is a beautifully executed homage to the vintage Submariners. Indeed, although produced in the 90s, the watch sports an aesthetically pleasing black matt dial with applied tritium indexes that are not white gold surounded and an Oyster bracelet with folding links, both reminiscent of 70s Submariners. Despite these vintage features, the watch exhibits great resistance and is perfect for daily wear for anyone seeking more than just a classic black Submariner. This specific piece dates back to circa 1990-91 and has been kept in fully original condition. The dial is immaculate and sports a beautiful beige tritium patina on the hours markers, as well as on the hands. The original bezel insert turned to a jeans blue color, adding even more charm to the watch.

The watch is in great condition. The case, bracelet and bezel have sharp angles and a lot of material. The dial is immaculate and shows a lovely beige patina on the tritium. The bracelet is the folded-links Oyster bracelet, reference 9315. It is in great condition and has almost no stretch.

The watch is sold with its original box and papers.

The movement is a caliber 2824-2, which has been serviced by our watchmakers.
