About the watch
In the rich and long history of Rolex, not many model lines can pride themselves in being as significant as the Datejust. Born in 1945, the Datejust has seen many variations of cases, bracelets, and dials combinations. This particular timepiece boasts the ultimate configuration, with its blue dial, fluted white gold bezel and Jubilee bracelet. The 1601 is the first wristwatch in history to feature a blue lacquered dial. Like all blue dials on the 1601, this one has a few imperfections in the lacquer, which can be removed. That said, it remains in excellent condition compared to the average 1601, and these imperfections are far less visible to the naked eye. The tritium on the hands and dial has developed a beautiful patina that has turned a yellowish-orange colour. It remains arguably one of the most sought-after and versatile timepieces of all time. This piece is the perfect starting point for a collection and a must-have for any serious watch enthusiast.
Case & bracelet
The case has a lot of material and sharp edges. It has been very well preserved.
The buckle and bracelet are in excellent condition too. The bracelet is the original one, reference 6251H. It has little stretch.
Accessories & extras
The watch is sold alone, without box or papers. We provide a Veritas travel pouch.
Movement information
The movement is the original caliber 1570, which runs well.
In-person viewing
Our watches are available for in-person viewing in Lausanne by appointment only. While we occasionally travel to meet clients in Geneva, Zurich, or Bern, Lausanne remains the most convenient meeting point. Unfortunately, viewings outside of Switzerland are not feasible.
